Workshop on The Opening of Sharia Tourism Study Program, Faculty of Adab and Cultural Sciences
The development of sharia tourism in Indonesia has brought about a change in views on religious tourism. The community is also increasingly paying more attention to the existence of religious tourism in various aspects. The development of science in all fields requires a special science so it is necessary to create a new branch of science that is in accordance with the needs of the community and government, especially in the field of tourism. Currently, sharia tourism is being echoed in Indonesia so an effort is needed to increase the capacity and quality of education graduates as well as the professional capabilities of human resources in the field of sharia tourism. As in its duties and functions, the Faculty of Adab and Cultural Sciences UIN Sunan Kalijaga is planning to launch a new study program in the field of sharia tourism within the Ministry of Religion.
Tuesday, October 19, 2021, a workshop for the opening of the Sharia Tourism Study Program was held with 3 resource persons, namely Ir. Singgih Raharjo, SH., M. Ed as Head of Yogyakarta Tourism Office, Fahmi Prihantoro, S.S., M.A as lecturer at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences UGM and Ghifari Yuristiadi, M.M., S.S., M.A., M.M., CHE. as a lecturer at the UGM Vocational School. The workshop lasted 2 sessions starting at 08.00 to 15.00 WIB at the Theatrical Room 1st Floor, Faculty of Adab and Cultural Sciences. This workshop discusses the urgency and potential that can later be targeted by the Sharia Tourism Study Program of UIN Sunan Kalijaga. The absence of sharia tourism study programs abroad and only 4 universities that have established Sharia Tourism Study Programs in Indonesia is a great opportunity to develop Sharia Tourism Study Programs at UIN Sunan Kalijaga.
Currently, a new concept has emerged in the world of tourism, namely the concept of halal tourism. What we need to know is that this concept is not changing tourist attractions to be halal or the Islamization of tourism but rather the concept of halal services. The potential for halal tourism in Indonesia grew 15% by achieving visits of 2.8 million Muslim foreign tourists and foreign exchange of more than 30 trillion in 2018. Meanwhile, in 2019 Indonesia's halal tourism was ranked the best in the world according to the GMTI version and in 2020 the number of world Muslim tourists reached 160 million people. .
The concept of halal tourism is currently still in demand, as said Ir. Singgih Raharjo, SH., M. Ed., "The portrait of halal tourism is still in great demand, it will be an opportunity for graduates of the Sharia Tourism Study Program to become sharia tourism assessors." The portrait of halal tourism is reflected in the CHSE (Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Health) certification. Environment Sustainability). The CHSE certificate is given to tourism business actors to guarantee tourists in the implementation of cleanliness, health, safety, and environmental sustainability, as well as compliance with health protocols in the context of preventing and controlling COVID-19. The determination of the CHSE certification is of course carried out by assessors in the sharia sector. This determination is based on the results of an assessment of the fulfillment of criteria covering aspects of product, service and management. For this reason, the opening of the Sharia Tourism Study Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga will open up great opportunities for graduates to become qualified sharia assessors.
