Bi-Weekly Forum #4 Virtual Seminar: The Conception of Happiness in Islamic Philosophical Thought and Its Importance in Human Life

Friday, March 19, 2021 the Bi-Weekly Forum, Faculty of Adab and Cultural Sciences held a virtual seminar. The Bi-weekly Forum #4 for the second time invited speakers from abroad, Brunei to be exact. The theme of this virtual seminar was "The Conception of Happiness in Islamic Philosophical Thought and Its Importance in Human Life". The guest speaker in this seminar came from Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University Brunei, Suleiman Mohammed Hussein Boayo, Ph.D. and as the moderator was Dr. Sujadi, M.A.

This event began with an explanation of the speaker about the meaning of happiness in the view of Islam. Happiness was realized by everyone in their own way. Everyone's ability to realize happiness was also not the same. Several concepts of happiness in the perspective of Al-Faraby, Al-Kindi, Ibn Sina were also clearly explained by him. "No matter what happens, you have to be happy," he said.

The moderator in the closing remarks stated that, to achieve happiness, humans were expected to always be able to cleanse their souls, empower their knowledge, and finally, be able to balance their interests with others’.
