HMPS Master in the History of Islamic Civilization Held a Seminar on Writing Journal Articles

On Wednesday, April 7, 2021, HMPS Master Program in Islamic Civilization (SPI) held a training seminar on article writing for Journal entitled "Training of Publishing International Journal on History".This event was held for two days by inviting two different speakers, Lutfi Maulana S.Ud., M.Ag.who spoke on "Historical Journal Writing Techniques" and Dr.Yoyo, MA who delivered materials on "The Content of Scopus & Sinta Indexed Journal on History".
By considering the health protocols in preventing the massive spread of Covid-19, the seminar was held online and offline for only limited participants including the Dean of the Faculty of Adab and Cultural Sciences, Dr. Muhammad Wildan, M.A. In his remarks, the Dean expressed his support for the seminar held by HMPS Master Program in Islamic Civilization (SPI).He said that this seminar would certainly encourage students to be productive in writing. The Dean himself was currently encouraging lecturers in the Faculty of Adab and Cultural Sciences to be more productive in writing articles in journals indexed by Sinta and Scopus because more lecturers were interested in writing on anthologies, which were actually less-valued than journal articles since the anthology was notpeer-reviewed. He stated that the key to writing journal articles was only one, “patience”, as it required a long process.During the process article might be rejected and had to move to another journal. Therefore, the Dean advised students to write articles in journals indexed by Sinta first, as an exercise considering the process of writing to publish articles in Scopus indexed journals that generally takes a long time.In addition, he emphasized that collaboration can simplify and shorten the time for writing articles. The Dean then closed his remarks by opening the seminar by reading “basmala” together.
The event was then continued with the first material delivered by Lutfi Maulana S.Ud., M.Ag.guided by Moderator Imam Nawawi. While on the second day, Dr.Yoyo, MA.Delivered the second material. According to Ilham Aziz, Chief of the HMPS Master Program in Islamic Civilization (SPI), the seminar which was held by the SPI Masters HMPS did not only stop for two days but it would be followed up by holding a journal article writing competition on history, which thetechnical meetingwould be held on April 12, 2021, offline in the Theatrical Room of the Faculty of Adab and Cultural Sciences and online through the Zoom application.
