The Faculty of Adan and Cultural Sciences discussed the Recent Phenomenon in Afghanistan

Bi-Weekly Forum #18 The Faculty of Adab and Cultural Sciences UIN Sunan Kalijaga held a webinar with the theme "Recent Developments in Afghanistan and its Potential Influence on Extremism in Indonesia". This forum invited Bilveer Singh, Ph.D. from the National University of Singapore as the speaker and accompanied by Umi Nurun Ni'mah, SS, M.Hum. from UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta as the moderator.

He explained that Afghanistan has a close relationship with Indonesia, because Afghanistan is one of the countries that recognizes the sovereignty of the Indonesian state. Indonesia has good relations with Afghanistan. In addition, judging from some actual facts, that in the end the Taliban has succeeded in regaining control of the Afghan state. In addition, Bilveer Singh emphasized, “Will the same thing happen as when they were in power? If China can work with the Taliban, and some countries can work with the Taliban, then has our view of the Taliban changed for the better or vice versa? Has the Taliban changed or our opinions have not changed about the Taliban?

The discussion of this material was very interesting, especially because it departed from current events and was being widely reported. There were so many issues raised regarding the Taliban, but by presenting potential sources in the world of politics, it is hoped that this activity will be able to provide a critical space for students, lecturers, and researchers as an academic scientific community.
